There’s Seating Near the Front.

There’s Seating Near the Front.

Robin Williams uttered these words during his Q&A with James Lipton. When asked, “If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear… when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?”

It is Awards season, and the timing could not be more bittersweet. You have glee and glamour comingling with grief on the Red Carpet: Seth Meyers will take his wit from SNL and Late Night to the stage, as the Emmys host. We bet that the spirit of Don Pardo will be giving him a nudge, making the monologues even more hilarious and poignant.
Hilarious and poignant are the exact words to describe Robin Williams. You cannot help but convulse with laughter, whenever he is on film or doing stand-up. Who could forget the frantic “Fosse-Fosse-Fosse-Fosse! Martha Graham! Martha Graham! Madonna! Madonna!” routine from The Birdcage? Or the “pie facial” gag from Mrs. Doubtfire? Even his more dramatic and disturbing roles had a tinge of comic relief.

Alas, Robin… You have given us so much to live and laugh for, but didn’t stay nearly long enough to see future generations fall off their seats.
Now, he will be driving the Celestial Audience mad with his infectious energy and charm. Philip Seymour Hoffman, Harold Ramis, Lauren Bacall, and Don Pardo are in for a treat, as we always were.
